What To Do When Your Circumstances Don’t Change?

God can be quite humorous at times.

Does God see you trying to change a condition that you have no power to alter? Yes, He does. Do you think He finds our actions amusing? Well, let me put it this way; I believe God has a sense of humor. So, I figure I may as well have one too!

I can laugh now, but such has not always been the case. As I write, I find humor in this particular blog. When I have been in the middle of odd or trying circumstances, I have become quite frustrated, perplexed, and even angry at times. More often than not, I found myself asking the Lord to change my situation, not me. That’s why it’s funny!  

Herein lies the first of many mistakes I made with that type of prayer request.   I got the prayer backward. What needed to be changed was ME! My outlook is what needed fixing. So this is why I can laugh at myself.

Because God sees what we cannot, and He knows the future, He will orchestrate our lives in such a way to bring Him glory and to fulfill His kingdom purposes in the earth. So, it’s best to cooperate with the plan of God from the start.

Here’s a short recipe to follow when you are unable to change your situation.  

Ingredients:

  1. Build – Yep, start the design phase all over again. Get the proper tools and supplies this time.
  2. Plant -You are going to be there for a while, so plant that which will produce and reproduce.
  3. Prosper – Plan for success. Map out your investment strategy.
  4. Train – Take time to teach the next generation so they can carry the mantle after you are gone.

What should you do when you cannot change your circumstances? Build. Plant. Prosper. Train. Leave the results to God.  

Jeremiah 29:5

Build ye houses, and dwell in them; and plant gardens, and eat the fruit of them;

Deuteronomy 4:10

Specially the day that thou stoodest before the Lord thy God in Horeb, when the Lord said unto me, Gather me the people together, and I will make them hear my words, that they may learn to fear me all the days that they shall live upon the earth, and that they may teach their children.

Remember: When we follow God’s recipe, we will always leave a legacy on the earth.
