Leave a Legacy

It is essential to leave a legacy.

Life as we know it is changing rapidly. In the face of rapid change people often forget the importance of the need to leave a legacy on the earth.   Legacy does not always come in the form of money or property. Our children need an example of our faith, love, and hope.   We must leave a legacy of our Christian faith by leaving final words of encouragement to other people. Can we commit to doing a better job of demonstrating how to love as Christ loved? Can we show our babies there is no difference in others because of the color of their skin, the dialect they speak, the country in which they were born, or the level of education they achieve?

Make a personal commitment to prepare someone for the job once you are gone

Before his death, King David prepared Solomon to take on the job and responsibilities as King of Israel. Even though the call and the anointing were not the same, King David prepared Solomon, his son, to take the mantle. What God wanted to accomplish during the reign of David was not the same thing He planned to accomplish during the reign of Solomon. Ask the Lord to show you who you a re to prepare to take the mantle after you leave to ensure the legacy continues.  

1 Chronicles 22:6,17-19

6 Then he called for Solomon his son, and charged him to build an house for the Lord God of Israel. 17 David also commanded all the princes of Israel to help Solomon his son, saying,

18 Is not the Lord your God with you? and hath he not given you rest on every side? for he hath given the inhabitants of the land into mine hand; and the land is subdued before the Lord, and before his people.

19 Now set your heart and your soul to seek the Lord your God; arise therefore, and build ye the sanctuary of the Lord God, to bring the ark of the covenant of the Lord, and the holy vessels of God, into the house that is to be built to the name of the Lord.

The conclusion of the matter: There must always be a legacy left in the land for the next generation. Amen.
