Have you asked the question, “Is there a supreme God, and if there is, does God love me?” Have you told yourself Hallelujah God Loves Me ? Do you even want to know if God loves you?
Take me for an example. I am the middle child of three siblings. That lets you know I started with issues known as the middle child syndrome. Is there such a thing? Well, I don’t know if there is or not, but I know I struggled with many things, and one was believing God loved me or anyone else loved me. Sure, I grew up in a stable home with loving parents. But somehow, I did not feel good about “me.” I wrestled with low self-esteem. I got picked on because I was overweight. Yet, I always had something tugging inside of me to be and do better. I was not a quitter.
As I grew older, I found myself searching the Bible for answers. I recall attending the Billy Graham Crusade for Christ events at the stadiums in my city with my mother and grandmother. I would complete the Bible study booklets, mail them back in and get certificates of completion. I would be so excited when I would get the answers correct. Little did I know this was instrumental in developing my faith and trust in God. As a result, my self-confidence and self-confidence blossomed.
So here’s the deal. When it was all said and done, and I conclude the matter, it boiled down to two little words, “faith” and “trust.” I learned the only way to know God loves me was that I must first believe by faith God exists. The same applies to you! Just like you believe the bridge you drive across will not collapse, you must choose to believe God is. The next phase, “trust.” You must choose to trust His words when He says; God so loved the world He gave His only begotten Son for you . You cannot pick and choose the conditions to which you apply His love. By our faith and trust, we must choose to accept His ways as preeminent over our ideas.
Lastly, do you still need affirmation? Find a mirror. Stand in front of it. Look yourself in the eyes. Shout aloud, “Hallelujah, God Loved Me!” Yeah!! Say it every day until you believe it. The Holy Spirit will do the rest.
Have any of you felt this way before? What did you do to get past your feelings of doubt?
